@eydie57 I didn't say his daughter went off to college. I said it's about her going. Like someone can write a song about 9/11 without being in the WTC that day. Either way, argue with Peter. He's the one that said it on Rick Dees' Top 40 Countdown..

@davidfair2009 he has two daughters. one of whom was born in 1997, the other who was born in 1983. the song is from 1998. one daughter would have been a year old and the other would have been 15. now, i'm sure she's a brilliant girl, but going off to college at 15 is quite an accomplishment. and yes, i did notice that in your second post you said "school" and in the first post, you said "attend college." in theory, it could have been boarding school, but...

@eydie57 No it isn't. I heard it from his own mouth during an interview. He wrote it for his daughter moving away to attend school. Listen to the lyrics: "Now the winds of change are blowing, and they've taken her away. I will do my best not to hold her back, but there's nothing more to say"
