Mediocrity? I am assuming you prefer some screeching soprano that has no depth to their voice. Fleming's voice is not mediocre, your taste is.

umm... excuse me? Renee Fleming is the world's leading soprano. Alternating between two VERY different repertoires would be, by most standards considered versatile! Clearly you have not heard Fleming sing Russalka's Song to the Moon, or any other operatic aria for that matter--otherwise you would have the taste to recognize and appreciate the extraordinary voice that Renee is so renowned for.
