i was watching last night's show on my TiVo this morning when Jimmy announced his upcoming guests. as he said "Rachel Maddow" it looked like a small submarine (perhaps out of Fantastic Voyage) was launched from his mouth... my first thought was, "did i just see what i thought i saw?" but if you watch the video it's clear that Jimmy knew he "hocked a jimmy"... when he scans the desk to glance at his notes he is clearly looking to see where the glob landed.

In the days before HD Television this is the kind of thing that would slide right by, but now with glorious 1080i resolution, those of us with ADD catch every little blip, continuity error and unintended bodily discharge... and you wonder why the ladies are terrified of HD...
