i attemped to launc in 6-7 ft surf yesterday, got out 20 meters and then a big wave took me back up onto the shingle xD

ya dude, to get those swells... paddle like dr. frankenstein in a kayak trying to get to his monster..... coolest... example.. ever...

Just keep practicing. You'll get it. Try...just as your bow goes into the wave, lean forward, reach out with your paddle and make a strong paddle stroke back towards you, then leave your paddle in the water to brace should you start to turn, or roll. Once through, paddle like mad to get as far as possible before the next wave gets you.

THATS what you need to launch in the surf with. Rods, tackle, fish, safety equipment and whatever else you need goes in a 7 foot hatch. Another dry hatch for keys, cellphone and cigarettes, and ANOTHER dry hatch for anything else (I use livebait)
So google it and LEARN
