"Sneaky." "Dishonest." "Disingenuous." "Secret." "Mormons won't tell you their REAL beliefs."
By insinuation or outright accusation, it is common for some commentators to claim that Mormons aren't honest. This is puzzling to most Mormons, whose convictions are summed up in a straightforward Article of Faith: "We believe in being honest."
@omiolo You, who claim Briggy knew nothing of polygamy is going to tell us about Joes Freemasonry? Do go on. But first give us a history of Briggy's innocence on polygamy. Then tell us what Joe did down at the Freemasons lodge that day. Lastly what did Briggy mean when he raised his arm to the square at the MMM grave site? Everyone seemed to understand he meant to have the common grave destroyed, or to Christians, Desecrated. What do you think Briggy meant by that?
@omiolo Are you coming to terms with Brigham Young's Polygamy? You should know better. Here is how the translation took place:: Joe put his head in his old white hat. He put his pet rock in the hat, too. Then he told a story. Sometimes there was a sheet between the scribe and Joe. Sometimes he seems to have used the "Urim&Thummin". Champollion on the other hand methodically examined the Rosetta Stone and over years of investigation decyphered Real Epyptian. Joes mistakes led to the MMM
@IExposeMormonism If being poor and educated is some evidence of one's divinity, lets give Champollion some real credit. At lest he left us some real evidence. He left us peer review. We can examine Champollion's work for internal and external validity by comparing texts. There are real experts who can interrelate and reach real conclusions. But with "Reformed Egyptian" we have shit for evidence. The best evidence of truth in Mormonism is The Mountain Meadows Massacre.
@omiolo Joe was ill educated. But he had an extensive upbringing in occult magic, Kaballah, thus he became the highest degree Freemason in one day. We have no evidence for Reformed Egyptian, but Joe translated it into the BofM, Joe's crowning glory of his ill education. Another ill educated person was Champollion. He was a peasant, he translated real Egyptian. Two poor, uneducated kids. One with gold plates, one with Truth. Who deserves more respect, Joe or Champollion? You get 2 tries.
How could the ill-educated Joseph Smith translate the ancient text on the golden plates into the English Book of Mormon upon which so many base not only their faith, but a willingness to completely change their lives?

Why, then, the common accusation of dishonesty?
