How High the Moon is written by Morgan Lewis.
The song was popularised by Ella Fitzgerald.
I'm playing in the standard jazz style.

Lyrics:
Somewhere theres music
How faint the tune
Somewhere theres heaven
How high the moon
There is no moon above
When love is far away too
Till it comes true
That you love me as I love you

Somewhere theres music
How near, how far
Somewhere theres heaven
Its where you are
The darkest night would shine
If you would come to me soon
Until you will, how still my heart
How high the moon

Somewhere theres music
How faint the tune
Somewhere theres heaven
How high the moon
The darkest night would shine
If you would come to me soon
Until you will, how still my heart
How high the moon

  • you play this perfectly and it helped me a lot practicing, thanks

  • @okonh0wp I hope you realize it's harder to play slow and make it sound good.. quite ignorant thing to say if you're a musician

  • @okonh0wp Sorry I'm commenting on a year old comment but sometimes playing slow is much harder than playing fast. Next time someone calls a song at <50 bpm, you'll muchj rather them have called it 300+. Very Challenging to keep good time at slower tempos!

  • sounds lovely! I like the tempo just fine. :)

  • very good, jus slow enought for my students to learn it from you, les and mary would be proud

  • Some people are of the unfortunate position to measure greatness by how fast or harshly one plays. Jazzcherylyn, do try to ignore people who are unappreciative toward the hard work of others. I will say this just because I hope to keep you encouraged and assured, and to ease my irritation.

  • This is great! You play it very well!

  • Beautiful song - played with such emotion, you have obvious musicality.

I was wondering, if I wanted to purchase the standard jazz version of this song, where would I go to find it? Where did you get yours?

    Please reply soon. Thanks :)

  • really nice!

  • i'm a 'she', but thanks for defending me
