I shot this footage Sunday June 6th, up Little Cottonwood canyon, nearby what a lot of people call "Moon Rock", or "The Waterslide". If you've been there, then you'll really be able to see just how out of control the water is in this video.

  • Hey man i was talking to some kids at my school and they said that they do this thing called "shoot the moon' up little cottonwood canyon. its like a waterslide thing up by moon rock like in your video? do you know anything about it i mean it sounds way fun i wanna check it out, kids say they like shoot out of the thing and say it is a blast

  • @sbcollio1234 Yes I know what your talking about. I dont call it 'shoot the moon'. My friends and I call it 'the waterslide' but yes that is it, in the video. The huge wall of a rock is Moon Rock and right in front of it is the 'waterside', Its hard to see with all the water but in the granite, theres a waterslide shaped crevis that you slide down (only during like June and July does it work,) If you do it earlier its too much water, if you do it later, there's not enough water.

  • Crazy. I was up there today and walking on the granite next to that spillway without a problem at all. That river rose 15 damn feet this past spring.

  • @sbmegypt3 I know. It was insaine

  • he died in THIS springs flood? or back in 2005? I'm so sorry to hear about that. Yes you definately have to be very careful if you're going to watch mother nature.

  • Great video. I was caught in a flash flood in Leeds ,ut in jan. 2005 and i tried to convey the violence of the flash flood to the media,,,and it was like nobody could understand. you're video shows the violence of water, my husband died in that flash flood. i waited a week for his body to be recovered out of Quail Creek Reservior. It was a HELLISH for me. But hopefully the message we can get out to the puplic is simple....TURN AROUND...DON"T DROWN..
