The works of Gustav Klimt and Hans Bellmer are the inspiration for the Jasper Garvida Autumn/Winter 2007-08 collection. Entitled the 'Bride of Frankenstein', the collection is a representation of Klimt's muses and Bellmer's illustrations of androgens that suggest sensuality and sexuality. Jasper Garvida, who is known for his use of bold colours and fairy-tale fantasy themes, steps forward into a darker and sombre subject. A romanticism of death and life is the main theme. Mainly in black and white, like Bellmer's illustrations, the collection boasts frothing textures with the use of embroidered fabrics and lace trimmings. Beaded and tailored pieces are reflections of Klimt's ornamentations. The collection displays restricted elegance and youthfulness with a modern twist and an homage of the past. This is Jasper Garvida's first prêt-a-porter collection for Swatch Alternative Fashion Week.
