The folk process goes high-tech. I learned this one from my friend Eirean, who lives in France. Find him at:
http://www.youtube.com/user/eirean62

He posted a video of himself playing this tune in July. I learned it directly from the video, the same way I would in a jam session - by watching and listening. It was written by Pat Kirtley.

Played on my small bodied Rosewood/Spruce Lowden 12-string in DADGAD, lowered one step to CGCFGC with a capo on the 3rd fret.

I recorded this with my new Hercules Dualpix USB 2.0 HD720p WebCam and NADY USB-1 microphone. Better sound, but unfortunately the hardware on my old Dell cannot handle a video resolution higher than 320x240. Hopefully, the black & white offsets the poor resolution, at least somewhat.

Enjoy.

  • Great sound from that guitar man. How do you like the Nady usb mic ? I'm thinking of getting one. Cheers

  • @fabianromano - There are better ones out there, but they cost more. The Nady certainly isn't studio quality, but it will do for something like this.

  • Hi lovely playing...i love this song ...i bought a tape called Dance of the Celts when i was in USA in 1997 and this song was on it ... i would love to learn it do you have the tab by any chance?

  • @lurganliar - actually, I learned from video posted here on YouTube. I watched it several times until I figured things out.

The link to his video is in the description.

  • I've just found a new sound I love.

  • @lurganliar - That's interesting. I bought that same CD in 97 and I still have it. That's where I first heard this as well.

    Cheers!

  • There is a song for piano called Finn Mccool by Michele McLaughlin. Not at all similar but it would be cool for you to try on guitar. Maybe slow it down and mellow it out.

  • Nice tune sir, just missing a pint of black and a crackling fire :)

  • cool tune, nice playing ;)

  • A treat to listen to.

    Well done!
