How does one achieve bass Nirvana?
-
the bass is a modified PB with Carl thomson jazz neck
Bartonlinis, only the bridge pu is wired.
40-100 CT strings at this time
bass was stolen a while ago
hear how Jeff is still soloing over the chord changes even if the kbd player is totally lost
I guess at 4:22 JB thought : "now you go through the changes, sucker"

@chrisbass72 Aaah thank you :)
-
@StrawberryJungle The bass is probably a heavily modified fender precision. Different pickguard,pickups etc..

Will someone PLEEEAAASE tell me what bass Jeff has there? I've looked everywhere and I can't seem to find it. It'll probably be something really obvious and I'll feel very silly but I'm desperate to find out. Thanks :)

This is very Weather Report-ish! Good!
-
He's a right cheeky old bastard! H'e got the chops and he knows it. Bless him!

@GaryNull Hmmn do we need a soloing bass player? Well actually after geeing all the band members up, he plays up a storm! Drummer is amazing....

The sound quality is not great, but playing is excellent as usual. How does he get that fretless sound with a fretted bass? Sooo cool.
thanks for posting . . I love these older clips of Jeff.
The best soloing bass player by far.
