  • Is making milkweed fiber similar to dogbane? I always have trouble seperating it! Maybe you'll show it in another video? Thanks

  • Hi:

Milkweed and dogbane are closely related plants and both exude a milky latex sap when the stems are broken. Milkweed also provides fiber which is an off white color and is not as strong as dogbane. The woody core of the milkweed is not as strong which makes it a little more difficult to peel the fiberous bark off the core. I sometimes make cordage with a strand of milkweed and a strand of dogbane for the contrasting colors...makes nice necklaces.

    Pete

  • does dogbane grow in the uk?

  • Double like! Thanks for showing the whole process.

  • Awesome tips! I'm gonna try this next time I'm at the lake!

  • What don't you use thigh rolling instead of reverse wrap as the cordage weaving technique? It's much faster. Is it because you consider the thigh-rolled ropes to be less tightly weaved?

  • how do you attach the shark teeth?

  • I would recommend the use of hemp over any other type of fiber.

  • YAY! Weed is plenty in da wild!

  • 5:02 is a moment of revelation hahah j/k
