Project Access is a story about improving the health of a community...one person at a time. It is a story about collaboration, among physicians from all specialties, among private and public sector organizations, and among individuals who share in the spirit of giving. But most importantly, Project Access is a success story.
What began in 2003 with seed money donated by Providence Health Care has grown to a community-wide partnership including more than 800 physicians providing medical care to low income uninsured residents of Spokane County.
With ongoing support from Providence, this network of doctors, nurses, hospitals, pharmacists, government agencies, and churches, heal the sick and injured among us. Project Access provides health care with dignity and hope. In return, lives are restored, families are reunited, workers return to their jobs, and the community is made better.
This is a story about a communitys collective ability to improve lives and restore faith. Like Beau Mellem, whose life-saving heart surgery allowed him to return to work, get health insurance, and live a full life.
