PTU- The purpose of the Power Transfer Unit (PTU) is to produce hydraulic pressure in one hydraulic system utilizing the power available in another hydraulic system in the event of a failure of the pump(s) normally driving the first hydraulic system. PTUs are commonly found between two hydraulic systems in twin-engine aircraft.

Wrong airport, LOL. Sure, it was not the reason here, but has actually happened before. The Crossair pilot who flew his Avro RJ in to the ground in Bassersdorf near Zurich had flown all the way to Aosta, Italy on another flight insted of landing in Sion, Switzerland. The crackpot only realised it on approach, as he could see some ads in Italian. Besides it's also the same pilot who's destroyed a Saab 340 by retracting the gear on the ground. Think it's impossible? Look it up!

good call by the pilot, glad to know that safety is always a priority even though the outcome probably would have turned out just fine if they decided not to abort

@kenuma we had a similar experience in frankfurt! However it was a rejected takeoff, we were in a boeing 737 heading to birmingham. We were in the middle of takeoff about 15 seconds into it when the pilot slams the brakes! He took the plane off the runway in a hurry. About a minute later he explained that a 747 coming in for landing would come dangerously close to us if we tried to takeoff.

@kenuma yea, that's usually the reason for most go around's, another a/c on the rwy.

Cool. I think this is the lowest go around on youtube
-
Hmmm hard to tell but I think they had too many noodles and sour sauce on board and were overweight
-
Called too fast approach

Kinghoho3, It's better to appreciate that your alive, Some pilots don't like to make that decision of going around, and those don't always make it.

i think i was on that plane
aborted landings never fun i had my experiance in melborn on sept 15th twice we had to abort the landing at Avalon Airport before moving on to tullamarine airport melborn thanks to high winds,im curious thoe your approch seems rather smoth what was reson for the abort landing?ours was from a rarestorm with high winds pushing the plane around like a rag doll

oh i suppose it was a last minute decision? not too sure though. the pilot claimed that the aircraft was too close to the one taxiing off the runway so they had to abort the landing. but it was an experience =)
