David Dyson is one of my groove heroes so it was a real honor to play his song "Donovan James" with him at the Bass Bash this year at the NAMM show! and his band is KILLING!

  • Sweet MTD!

  • Those are both Skjold Basses!! 8)

  • @damianerskine So these basses are not affiliated with the MTD Brand??

  • @bboytony209 nope, not at all. They're both built by Pete Skjold in Ohio. Google Skjold design to check out the site

  • Awesome playing from both Damian and David. Am I the only one who can't stand David's tone though? It seems like every modern slap style bassist feels compelled to scoop their low mids way too much for my liking.

  • saw Dave killin it with Steve Coleman 15 years ago, i'll never forget that night 8P

    Thanks for posting

    ¨Peace out

  • illl bet you 10 bucks he's slapping in E

  • 3:34 >> OMFG !!

  • Sorry if anyone misunderstood me in a previous post. I meant to say that Damien and David are far better musicians and bassists that I ever hope to be. They are looking at each other and communicating, not playing all the time with their heads down or getting so much into it that they lose one another. A lesson that was taught to me by a friend who is a professional drummer and has toured the world. Maybe this is just a lesson for me :-)

  • good to see the drummer really getting into it and not overplaying either, who is it?

  • @STONEAJE True that. Not bagging on David's playing at all, the guy is a monster. Just can't stand the tone.

  • @codyhansonbass It's also just a camera (or phone) so it's hard to really tell how the tone is.

  • GROOVE!!!

  • a lesson for all musicians. Play with your ears open and your heads up. David nodded yes to go back into the verse but this is where he starts his bass solo. He quickly shakes his head no at Damien for him to lay out. He does it one more time before he gets loose. I can't count the number of times I've jammed with cats who play with their heads down. wake up or you might miss something. I'm nowhere near Damien or Daivd but I play with cats who are working professionals and I always look up
