Boca Raton, FL Investigators from the Boca Raton Police Services Department are looking for help in identifying a possible suspect in two separate vehicle thefts. The first incident happened on Monday January 19, 2009 around 2:00 am.
During a routine security check of the Mobil gas station at 198 West Yamato Road, the officer was alerted by the clerk of a suspicious incident that had occurred a couple of hours earlier. The clerk told the officer that a black male had parked a white 2006 Chevy pickup at one of the gas pumps, got out and proceeded to wipe down the driver side door with a wet paper towel, as if to remove fingerprints.
The male also went into the store and made a purchase with a credit card, as seen on the stores security cameras, but left on foot, leaving the pickup behind. After making contact with the owner, it was determined the pickup was stolen out of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida.
The second incident happened the same day and a short distance from where the first vehicle was left. Officers responded to 618 Boca Marina Court regarding a stolen vehicle. It was determined that a 1999 black Ford Expedition was taken from the driveway of the home around 5:00 am. Miami Beach police recovered the SUV the next day.
Because the second vehicle was left in the same area the first vehicle was stolen, it is believed the two incidents could be related. If anyone has any information about either case or knows the identity of the person in the photo, they are urged to call Detective Sean Flynn at 561-620-6042
