i've got news for you, i still work on saturdays and sundays. because i'm self motivated and self employed and do not need a union to do ANYTHING for me. i can do it all for myself. unions more often than not negotiate unsustainable benefits and salaries for their members... it is not right that in 41 states, right now, the average public sector union employee has an average salary that is higher than private sector... it cannot be sustained, bottom line
i stand on individual and personal responsibility. that is what gives people the most power to control their own lives and not become dependent. isn't this what we all want? people who are TRULY in need, i've got no beef with them. Only with people who think they are entitled to a second chance if they the wrong thing. selfishness? PLEASE... empowerment is more like it.
Look, not everybody can just get up and find better work. Skilled jobs don't grow on trees, and there are good reasons why some people are stuck working in security jobs. For instance, what if somebody's handicapped, or elderly and looking to supplement his social security income? And you should be thanking the labor unions. If it wasn't for them, you would still be working on Saturday and there would be no workplace safety regulations.
show me the documentation of workers being locked up. Individuals are responsible for themselves. And since they are not forced to work there, they are free to seek out better employment and education. Govt is NOT responsible for what people can do for themselves. Something given is NEVER as valuable as something earned. When people start taking responsibility for themselves and stop blaming others for their choices, the world will improve...
The problem is the gov't has taken a stand on this issue, but that Bush appointed body has taken a stand on the side of corporations in stomping out people's right to form a union.
Maybe we just have a difference of opinion, you think people arent "entitled" to basic things like medicine or a second chance, but my values tell me to put people over profit and make sure they're taken care of. What values are you standing on, self-sufficiency and selfishness?
2008HLB, millions of working people are forced to work 60, 70, and even more hours a week. Maybe its not by gun, but the increasing price of food, rent, and utilities is going up and we're often forced to make tough choices between bill/family/work (although sadly there are cases currently documented that show workers being locked in trailers, stores, and other egregious conditions by force)
Forced to work a 60 to 70 hour work week???? This is pathetic. You are not entitled to health care, dental, and if you commit a "transgression" you SHOULD be fired. If you can't earn more than $9 per hour in this country, and you are not physically or mentally handicapped, well, you've made some bad choices in your life that's for sure.
are all the employees for this company retarded? they are ALL free, right now, to seek out better paying jobs... QUIT!!! stop asking govt to solve problems for you. Take the power into your own hands, get an education, and get another job that pays more. If you can't do it, it's your fault. Take some responisibility for yourself!
