I think it was a good thing that I liked Magus so much that I didn't want to fight him. Frog looks better as a frog, so why should I want to break his curse and kill Magus? Also, it's not like there is a real reason to avenge Cyrus, since Magus just defended himself, it's not like he ASKED Cyrus to come and try to kill him. And without Magus, Frog would still be this pathetic wimp he was before he was cursed. And Magus and the team always wanted the same thing: Destroy Lavos. So why fight him?

No, you cant, to recruit you either fight him w/o Frog OR just say No

or you could just not fight him, I had frog marle and robo in my party and he joined us when I refused him

I fought Magus the first time I got to this scene when I was 8 because I was pissed off about him insulting Crono, and after I killed him, my immediate reaction was to reset and do this scene the right way, not even knowing that he was a recruitable character at the time.

how do u beat him with frog alone?

@animedude752 You have to get them again. But they keep their stats and equipment, and you keep all items except I think all the key items. The only exception to this I can think of off-hand is that if you had Frog equipped with the Masamune, he'll have the default Iron Blade when you get him in New Game+.

if you want to get magus, when he asks if you want to fight him, say no and start to leave. he will saqy wait before you leave and ask to join you

That would be bad ass if all 3 characters died and you had to continue the game with Magus alone. Then you can have him join up with his two chronies Slash and Flea!

so like.. not to be an ass or anything.. but your tactics, among other things in this fight are highly flawed.. you use items that you really don't need too.. and you waste soooo many turns for lucca.. I understand powering him down probably wasn't your intention.. but magus should be a joke at this point in the game, he's not supposed to be difficult here, as many people said.. Frog can solo him without trouble
