Describes a work flow for merging Second Life sculpty sub-tools made in ZBrush and creating a proper uv map for texturing in other software such as Photoshop or 3D-Coat, then bringing it back to ZBrush to generate your sculpt maps and textures.

A few slightly dodgy cuts where I removed my random ramblings to get it under 15 mins :p

  • There are easier ways to texture in zbrush, you are making it too hard. You should see other tuto about how to paint using polypainting...

  • @llCreativeLabll Hey, thanks for the comment. I'm sure you're quite right, but this video was aimed at those that wanted a way to texture outside of zbrush as I found I wanted to do. Polypainting was fiddly and unfamiliar to me, plus zbrush doesn't support the Space Navigator, much to my dissapointment, and for me, is unstable for certain actions. I know and like the tools in photoshop, and enjoy using 3D coat, so this is purely a method I found for doing that.

  • @MisterBouncyBounce, Ah nice! Thanks man that fixed it actually!

  • @x900lbGorillax1 why it's not updating might be just a minor zbrush quirk. when that happens either maximize the photoshop screen and then minimize it or click on "return to external editor" on the zbrush screen. then go right back to zbrush and it will read the updated work. basically whats happening is when zbrush exports to zapplink it instantly reads the file for updates and since it just exported it there are no updates yet, its still has the old reading.

  • It's def good man. I find Zbrush and photoshop don't like each other if you ask me. At least so far with my novice ability I'm trying to figure out after I have polypainted say a real texture onto my model then using zapplink to jump over to photoshop to make my touching up in there and then jump back to zbrush to find out that my work doesn't update to the model. I save it so I know it's not that. This gives me another way to try out painting textures though. Thanks!
