New Mexican Gray Wolf Pack at Brookfield Zoo

Our new Mexican Gray Wolf pack has arrived from the Endangered Wolf Center in Eureka, Missouri, and consists of three males (Felipe, Redford, and Sancho) and five females (Rubina, Ernesta, Nancia, Celrue, and Francea). While the wolves have begun to explore their new home at Wolf Woods in Great Bear Wilderness, they so...metimes have access to their off-exhibit area and may not be visible at all times. The new pack was born at the Endangered Wolf Center in April 2008. Mexican gray wolves are the most endangered wolves in North America and part of an international recovery program with the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service and part of a multizoo breeding program called a Species Survival Plan http://www.czs.org/czs/Animal-Care/Species-Survival-Plans.aspx

These animals are on the brink of extinction in the wild. Thank goodness for animal parks and zoos and rescues or they would no longer be sharing this Earth with us.
