  • God if I was Scottish this would either reduce me to tears OR make me want to invade England! ;-) IT'S BRILLIANT! I wish ITV would bring back the regions - these start ups have real excitement and occasion about them!

  • @eezlewax2 Remember this too before the smurfs came on. Back when tv was great

  • thank you for posting this! Wonderful uplifting celtic music!

  • Scottish Television first started In 1957.

First Came The Independent Television Authority Untill The Early 1970's.

Later Came The Independent Broadcasting Authority.

Scottish Television Changed To 24 Hour TV In 1988

  • God this takes me back - Saturday mornings, waiting for kids tv to start and lsitening to this wondeful music. Would bring a tear to a glass eye. Not heard this for years. Brilliant!

  • That Music Was Used During Cartoon Shorts from 1932-1943.

The Theme Music was called "Scotlandia."

  • Eezlewax's remark about middle 'England' reminds me of the opening night of Radio Clyde. After I'd hosted the very first programme (on Hogmanay from 10.30pm - 2am), I was the only person in the building who could operate the switchboard, and so I was stuck there until dawn! Round about 3am some guy rings and says "Who was the English b***ar* who presented the first programme?" My reply? "That was me. I'm 100% Scottish and I know who my parents are. Happy New Year!" - TONY CURRIE

  • @davba2 You're right it was 1957, but They Began using The IBA Slide in 1972.

  • ohhhhhh I remember this intro I loved that when I was a kid lol Thanks for posting
