We assume doctors are informed, we assume they would never do something so hurtful, we assume they know the history and origins of male genital cutting as a medical practice. That is rarely the case. How quackery became convention is a sickening episode in American medical history. They offered genital amputation "cures" for both boys and girls. Their ailment? Masturbation.

@TheChallenger2011 The Canadian government has passed a law that outlaws "female" genital cutting(that is without medical reason). And, maintains that a similar law to protect boys is not needed because the gender equality statutes make that law apply to boys as well. Their contention is that any male who is a victim of genital cutting may use that law to prosecute his attackers even tho the wording of it does not include boys. There have already been cases that won on that basis.

I'm glad to see a fellow Canadian speaking out about genital cutting! The rates might be lower than in the US but it still happens to a lot of infant boys in Canada everyday.

Hope the Canadian government and health ministry wise up and add boys to the ban on infant genital cutting.
