This is the full video of the MBC Hero Bungee trip (lots of funny edited version of July's jump were made after this was aired in Korea, such as this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AsYcDNiJ4ic and this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JOsXrVFWztk and dozens of others I've seen in Korean forums)

I have no idea what they are saying except the obvious "MBC Fighting!" before jumping :-)

After the bungee video is over (around 13:25) I added another video that was made after the July Waiver news.

Here's the highlights for those who haven't heard: MBC Hero are releasing July from the team.

"Park Seung Jun, better known as MBC game's Julyzerg, has been put on waivers by his team. This means that all teams are free to bid for the God of War's services.

The problem arose due to July's expiring contract of approximately 140,000 USD/year. MBCgame proposed a paycut to their star zerg player, based on his results during the 2006 year.

Julyzerg was not pleased with this proposed paycut, (partially because MBCgame won the 2006 proleague grandfinals over SKT1) and thus asked the team to release him.

Although it is not determined whether SKT1 will be the team to pick him up, their deep pockets, the vacancy of Lim Yo Hwan's (Boxer's) salary obligations, as well as their anemic zerg lineup would make the move a logical choice."

"July wanted 80,000 dollar for a year with no incentive, but MBC hero said no, they offered 65,00 dollar for a year with incentive.

After this, July officialy requested waiver. (Basically free for trade.)

This is July's interview:

Original Text From FighterForum

Q: You requested waiver yourself.

A: Yes. I did it myself. It makes both me and MBC game feel more comfortable, doesn't it. I hope this one works out well.

Q: Negotiations didn't work out. Was there a difference in offering?

A: I can not understand why they're offering a lower pay when we won the proleague last season. I was very dissapointed when I heard what MBC was offering to me at first. I am a bit sad, but I don't have anything against MBC game.

Q: I heard there were other problems besides the negotiation.

A: No. Our stance was just different.

Q: What are your future plans?

A: I find to plan a team that needs me. I will try to see as many teams as possible. If they choose me, I'll try my best not to fail them."

...

Also worth noticing is that Bisu started losing ALL, every single one of his games in Proleague since this news came up, I'm not saying he's playing bad, but something is off. Its well known that Bisu's idol is July, he looks up to him and as he said July was his main motivation through the last MSL all the way to the victory. I can only imagine he was very disappointed with this turn of events.

Sorry about the bitterness... but MBC are acting like jerks on this one :/ July offered them to cut almost half of his previous pay and they got greedy on his ass and wanted less. They should thank him, yes thank him for making them the powerhouse they are today. So to hell with them July is correct for asking a waiver. He has more accomplishments in his (rather big) belt than the rest of the entire MBC teammates put together... To make a point: Had the army not been an issue- you'd never see SKT1 drop BoxeR even if he was losing every single game, and he had his share of tough times!... MBC Hero without JulyZerg is just MBC, without the Hero.

May 21th, edit: it is now official, JulyZerg moved to SKT1 :-)

  • Damn july is quiet all the time, this was the first time I heard him speaking, and only couple of words.

  • they make alot.

Since Korean companies own them, they get company employer salary + prize money (if you or your team wins)

  • I've never Bungee'd, but parachuted, I heard jokes like: a guy sniffing at my shut and saying " smells of death" , I dropped about 80-120 meters and could still feel that wooden plank on my ass! they all have the same look an their faces ^^

  • i had no idea starcraft players made so much money. i thought they did it almost for free to put on a show for their fans.. =[

  • I hope July is going to tear through the MSL like Godzilla through Tokyo. He made a good start in Ro16 :P

  • i think thats not fair for julyzerg, everyone has a slump time... MBC will regret..

  • Pusan- "Do I have to jump!? What is this, whats going on? (It seems he's very close to chickening out, then he gets on the plank)"

July- "I'm scared....(So much for being scared, he doesnt say anything else and jumps off, I'm surprised the string didn't snap ;) )

Sea- (Commentator says- "Looks like Sea just climbed down without jumping.") "I don't want my family to know about this and yeah..I didn't go."

Bisu- (Either I missed him or he wasn't there.)

  • mbc has a lot of talented players, thus more money needed, and since july isnt putting up like sea, pusan, bisu and others, they're deducting him (seriously whens the last time you've seen july play on tv for osl)

  • Boxer's salary was 280,000$, add tournament cash prizes abd advertising endorsements, the guy's face and signature was on new generation wireless equipment keyboards mouses and shit-- he became a millionaire before 2003-- he can produce fucking SC2 from his own pocket, richest progamer-- NaDa with 200k was second.

  • MBC fucking idiots-- they will live to regret it.
