On April 16, 2012, the anniversary of the Virginia Tech Shooting, 32 victims and survivors of gun violence came to Washington DC to tell their stories to Congress and the American public. They don't want anyone else to have lives shattered in the same way and they have learned how gun violence can be prevented. America's gun policies can be fixed in specific ways and lives will be saved. Sherialyn lost her husband Ricky Byrdsong when he was shot while walking with two of his children down a street in his neighborhood in Skokie, Illinois. He was killed by a white supremacist killer who drove across Illinois and Indiana, randomly targeting African-Americans, Asian-Americans and Jews.
