Either is fine. Most MD/G games work with either, only 6 button games are no good without the classic.

hehe, sorry for correcting you, but with echidna you don't pronounce it with a ch sound, just a c sound, so it's like ee-kid-na. XD
love this game, shame no sonic and knuckles to make it complete.

Yeah save files work and if you delete the data from the data menu then it rids you of all of those and the VC save.

Hey Demon do save files work on vc games? because if you go back to the wii menu it creates a suspend point.

Both.
They are emulations of the exact carts, bugs and all. No differences and you even get lock on cartridge support.
