  • @EP2504 They put him on a trailer to be fair.

I think it was because there were a LOT of kids there.

Such a waste of an incredible horse. The jumps were dangerous, and the way the competition is encourages reckless riding. I don't like the way Mary King rides at the best of times. =[

  • @centaur00me they didnt put him down on the course? they actually made the poor thing walk to a private spot there wasnt any spectators? seriously thats just stupid. everyone in the crowd would have known what was going on, theyre not stupid and they would have known that it would have been better for Cavalier to have just been destroyed on the field, rather than having to suffer. Poor boy, some people are just idiots, and especially the people that came up with this express eventing xx

  • this expresseventing is stupid and should never have been allowed. a truly amazing and talented horse lost his life because of it, and we were lucky it was only one. a cross country course is mean for the wide open space is fields wheren the horse has freedom to balance itself. show jumping is meant for indoors, the jumps will fall if a horse knocks them, but solid fences, no. the person who thought of this clearly has no idea about horses RIP Call Again Cavalier- whatta legend </3

  • In my opinion the worst concept they could have come up with. I've watched lots of horses jump round and not one looked happy or comfortable, most just didn't read the fences right and the course caused carnage. The sad thing being that event riders don't get good prize money, so when you dangle a big offering like this infront of them they have no choice but to pursue, gotta make a living somehow. I despise this personally, Badminton and Burghley for me please...

  • Also, I was intrigued that Mary King didn't go with the horse. However, you could see that she was in tears, she knew he was really injured.

    Apologies for the long post.

  • Plus, I saw Mary King's fall. I hate it when people say "Call Again Cavalier's fall", because I simply do not believe that it was the horse's fault.

I was in tears and shaking, and amazed they didn't do what they used to, and put him down on the course. They would put shields up, and use a.. I think it's called a 'Silencer' or something? something silent & instant, anyway.

  • Oh God... I was there... it looked somewhat like this.

In concept, perhaps an OK idea, but there's no way they could have made the money back for the prize kitty, there was hardly anyone there!

  • I am completely against this...I mean really...this is not real eventing...and when you read the description on the website it emphasizes the thrill aspect of the sport...that not what evening should be about...eventing in its traditional form is fine..but this is off the charts...i mean really...come on people...it's just dumb...

  • yeah, because shortening it further is a great idea! NOT. Riders need to learn how to really get out there and RIDE. don't blame the sport, blame the people! (and I event too!

  • i thinks its great, i watched it on horseandcountry tv the other day and it was gd 2 watch, however it should not and I do not think it will replace the likes of Badminton, Burghley and all the other great places! bt its a great aspect to the sport and would like to see it stick around for definite!
