  • @Videowatcher76 A capo has got little to do with playing guitar. It's about vocals. And you'll find that all the best SINGER/songwriters use them, eg Nick Drake, Joni Mitchell, Paul Simon, etc, etc, and of course Bob himself. It's not about making it easier, it's about making it possible. The only reason Fred Sokolow isn't using a capo is that he's singing in a much lower key than Dylan's original. It's surprising how often I meet ignorant guitar snobs who don't know this basic fact.

  • If their is a place to vote, I vote you the best teacher for learning how to play and sing.

  • really enjoyed your playing and seeing your style, you and I play alot alike.

  • Fred, a pleasure to listen your calm and relaxed play! thanks, Maurizio.

  • @jaytoddmartin Who's Trey? My musical development mostly ended a few decades ago!

  • @KingofRoath lol you ever see Trey playing with a Capo ?

  • @whpriol1 Hi. It works both ways actually. If a key is still too high for you to sing with the capo off, you could put the capo on a high fret and sing lower, but the guitar would sound higher with the same chord shapes. You could of course transpose the chords, but then you are playing with different chord shapes, and you may not be able to play the same notes or picking pattern. If you want to sing a variety of songs, in the original chord shapes, you're going to need a capo some day!

  • @KingofRoath Interesting facts. I have a pretty deep voice so I don't think I need to use a capo.

  • Great instructional video. I saw Fred perform in Pasadena recently. Awesome old-timey music. Fred, upload your version of "Peach Pickin' Time" for us!
