  • that some rare footage . a kestrel killing a bird that size.unless u feed it to it or it was already dead

  • No I actually looked outside (still have no idea what made me decide to look out that door) and saw the strike, it scared me a little not knowing exactly what it was at first, just a big brown streak and it rolled into the window. That's when I grabbed my camera.

  • nice footage

  • i had about 11 kestrels and a few bat falcons and a merlin. the kestrels are not as crazy to chase after birds than the other 2 species i had. but when kestrels go after birds.that was probably the most exciting event for us.when it comes to small size falconiforms

  • how many kestrels have you flown? I've flown 3. A well known falconer in the falconry community has successfully flown several kestrels on starlings. He even wrote a book about it.

I have personally seen kestrels in the wild chase starlings.

  • well i never seen a wild kestrel going for prey like that. and a a hawker .the kestrels i flown almost never catch birds the size of them .only once i saw a fem kestrel going after a pigeon it actually caught it and it was brutal .kestrel won. but that was totally rare

  • Maybe it can be done in falconry but starlings definitely are not normal prey for American Kestrels

  • That's not true at all. I have, as well as many other kestrel hawkers, have flown their kestrels at starlings. It can easily be done.

  • That is a female American Kestrel with a Starling. Cool that she caught one.

  • great song to that haha ilmao good one
