Isn't this a hoot! This came from Tony Harrison's TPIR site (which I wish he'd update sometime...) This bumper, which aired on KTLA (I think) in 1976, emphasizes some of the slapstick/physical comedy aspects of the show, which were common back in the day. Too bad "Price" is now just a shell of its former self...

  • from what i understood is the price is right has not aired in the afteroon since 1975 inst strange that when tpir moved to morings it became a bigger hit but match game witch came on after that fissled out

  • @JAldridge86 My apologies! Just a first impression I guess.

  • Now I know for certain -- the April Fool's Showcase, which I had previously said was from '77, is in fact from 1975. They just spliced it in among some other, irrelevant, clips.

  • That sounds NOTHING like Rod.

  • And interestingly, the show never aired at 4:00 PM in 1977, or at all.

On March 7, the show moved to 10:30 and stayed there until November 7, where it moved to 10:00.

Unless KNXT/KCBS pre-empted the show at 10:30-11:30 and aired something else, I don't see how the timeslot mentioned here could make sense.

...But CBS still programmed at 4:00 until 1986, since it slotted "Press Your Luck" there and gave it back to affiliates on September 29...

    Ow, my head hurts.

  • The footage from 0:13-0:22 is very obviously from an April Fool's Showcase. Knowing that the 1976 April Fool's Showcase was a fake "Bicentennial Salute" to Dr. John Barrett Clapinger, and assuming that the shot of Bob coming through the doors near the end is from the same episode...

Since 1978 and 1979 didn't have a 4/1 show, and 1975 still had the brown set until 8/19, the most likely culprit is 4/1/77. Although it could also be 1980, I somewhat doubt that one.

So I'd say this is from 1977.
