Very good! Really perfect! Do you have videos of "THE LITTLE THINGS YOU DO TOGETHER," "YOU COULD DRIVE A PERSON CRAZY" and "Getting Married Today" from this same concert? It is these cations are my favorite! Thank you!
-
wasn't this professionally recorded for PBS special, but never aired?
-
here's to the ladies who screech!
-
@WHSOctets She was all over the place. Thank the accompaniment for fixing it.

What the conductor did was very logical. He realized that she was off by two beats, but was counting on Stritch to come back in on time for "Look into their eyes." When Stritch did not (she must really not have been listening), the conductor immediately started conducting in time with Stritch, two beats forward. Luckily for him, the musicians knew the song well enough so that they came in for "dies" perfectly. if they hadn't, it would have been a disaster for Stritch.

That is an amazing conductor.
-
she is a broadway baby...grew up in NYC and was able to slip into shows with a little friend whose father was in lighting. never saw this "real woman" in person but she is still here savannahmama
-
This is such precious footage!
Where did you find this recording?
(Also thank you so much for uploading it!)
-
@YB7780 no, that was Marlene Dietrich who did that..why on earth would Elaine Stritch want to do such a thing ? to preserve the beauty her fans adore her for ? lol oh come on ..seriously! the energy she radiates in her show comes from within, not from some piece of tape..it's not about singing notes correctly, it's not about missing a beat in a song..it's about the eyes , the timing and the honesty !
-
She's really scary!
-
Oh dear holy. . .That conductor is GOD! o.o
-
even with the awful lighting, elaine looks beautiful.
-
Bad lighting and now Elaine wears tape to pull up her face when she performs. (Seriously).
-
Mess up or not, she owns this song. I would love to see her perform this live.
-
I didn't see Company when it premiered but had the original cast album and loved Stritch. Many years later, I finally did see her one woman show and it was worth the wait to finally see her live and to see her perform this bitter, mocking song in her inimitable style. One helluva performer.

i think it was the fact that she started late, and the then noticed, so she didn't really sing her song, but talked it to get back into tempo! it's broadway magic, naturally!
-
she's amazinggg!
but is it me...or does she look younger now than she did in this?!
-
This is the best Elaine/Ladies video, I've seen. Love the balance of light and dark.
thats pretty incredible she skips 2 beats between 4:00 and 4:16 and is basically off that entire time, yet somehow the conductor is able to get the entire orchestra to skip two beats and end up together with her at 4:17. good conductor

There will never be enough footages of this wonderfully talented broadway star. I wish there will be more and more pieces of history like this one that had been filmed and somehow get onto youtube for all of us , who never had the chance to witness it in person! Merci!
