Explosive Lower Body Training for Strength and Power

As we move from the strength phase of our training it becomes necessary to start incorporating movements that build strength endurance and stability. We must also engage in exercises that allow us to transition to more dynamic movements, submaximal plyometrics. This is in preparation to handle the ballistic forces in the upcoming explosive / jump training phase.

  • May be a dumb ques - Any reason for the variation of the Step Up to Depth Drop, instead of just the Depth Drop? Also how long the holding the Iso hold for ideally? Thanks for the vids keep up the good work, can't wait to try this.

  • @StrengthShop definitely. Altitude drops are where the athlete drops off of a raised platform and sticks the landing. I wanted to modify the movement to increase the benefits to the lifter. Starting with a high step-up the lifter opens up that lead leg / hip which improves strength mobility. Mobility of the hip and strength in this new range of motion.

  • should put the exercise info in the video descrip so we can read along with the video

otherwise keep up the good vids

  • @logann in the description there is a link to the full article. Thanks for watching.

  • so what sports are these guys training for? (interested)

  • @bestmonkeyboy both are very agile. They do a ton of skill work that require high volumes of footwork, balance and coordination

  • The tall one is very light footed at 5:13. Very graceful.
