AN-94 Abakan is the next evolution in AK series. Too bad the construction of it is limited to Spetsnaz. There should be 7.62 AN-94 too though.

Sometimes special forces need such weapon with a caliber that is been by enemis , this way they can do black ops operations without leaving any trails (round shells for example)
Also army don`t need to send more supply to their troops , troops can use trofey ammo.

It depends on the location of the troops.
Inside russia there are only two calibers used: one for a civil servants, one for the army.
Export weapons use NATO standard.
Not much to confuse.

why dose they use diffrent types of ammo on the guns shoudnt that make it just moreproblem when supplying troops when all troops dosent use the same ammo?

@savage495 Unless you're a poorly trained grunt soldier, then the AN-94 becomes a bit too complex to maintain.

@odinandme ive done a torture test on an M-16 there extremely tough. there much better than they used to be.so dont hate it tell you try it.
