Squat Party - London Brick Lane April 1999

An office block squat party - office blocks are the best venues for squat parties anyway, but this was a big one.

This video was taken early on in the night and things got much more hectic and heaving. As is tradition for office block parties, the building got trashed as people had fun in the offices.

The party came to an abrupt end for me though due to someone running through a window on one of the upper floors. He didn't fall out, but I was suddenly holding this badly injured guy. Anyhow we got him off to hospital and he survived, but that memory stuck with me for a long time. He became famous as "The Window Jumper"...

Anyone remember the NYE 1999 party in shoreditch in an old office block with cross bones on the top floor?

Would love to see some footage or pictures from that party!

@paulockleford - Albion House the was the name of that office block, I was there! I found a calendar dated 1981, so I guess it had sat empty for nearly 20 years. There was some amazing old computer stuff in there, big old card readers and stuff.

Out of interest do you know if it was Albion House on New Oxford street? I seemed to remember everyone saying the party was in shoreditch, I googled the name of the office and found one in new Oxford Street and wondered if its the same place??

I wonder if that is also the same place they held ScumTek in October of last year?

@paulockleford - yeah I was there but I didn't have any cameras with me. I hardly ever took cameras to the paries actually, this one was from a tape someone else made - see my page on nr23(dot)net/alternative/free_­parties/aldegate.php for the story

Albion house was in Shorditch, but was demoloished around 2002 or so. The millenium party was a bit different to most though, I noticed at the time a lot of homeless people there - and there was soup being dished out downstairs.

@TheUfologist Yeah thats where all my mates were, I was in the car park? Basement or car park at the bottom until I started losing it then staggered up to the crossbones top floor and just sort of lay in a heap. Was a mental night, we had some guy basically unconscious near us lying on one of my mates, someones got a picture of it on facebook lol

I do remember that someone said someone fell out of the window or something like that at one of the London parties, not sure if it was that NYE one cos I was feeling a bit sick by the morning time and still had a 3 hour train home to get... memory is a little hazy of NYE 1999!!

@sizzlezzz i was at that squat, i cant remember where it was but it was hectic to say the least, that poor guy had just had too much he ran straight into our group of friends and then into a wall full blast and then again and then through the window twice and that was it, we tried to ask the guys running the rig to stop the music after he ran into us but they were not having it, and then it all went pear shaped, that was one underground party i wish id never gone to to be honest.

I was at the NYE 2000 party in shoreditch. 7th floor maybe. Crossbones KDU Rig. All the usual suspects. Facehoover - dexorcist - b_junkie etc etc etc. The place was ramo. Them crew's know how kick it with there labels and styles. I was at bricklane that night aswell. advanced party days.
