My third (and possibly final) vex flamethrower. I combined all of the features I liked about the previous two, and got rid of the bugs. The fuel is carburetor cleaner, which works great, but any 11oz aerosol fuel will fit.

I agree, that was magnificent how far the flame went out. And maybe you could try it with different colors! Copper's color is neat because it's a blue ish green.
I know it looks cool (Cu=green, Li=red, K=yellowish red), but the fuel being burned is of-the-shelf carburator cleaner. If I could find 50% methanol / 50% CuCl in a 12oz aerosol can, I would love to try it. But untill then...
Because of the feedback I've been getting, I think I'll post a video on making a Nelson type robot. I'll probably take Nelson III apart and show the basic components being put back together.
holy crap dude dude! this is really impressive! you should make a shell that you can put on top of it, with holes for the antenna and where the fire sprays out! and also im impressed by how far the flame goes! VERY nice work.
Thanks! Although a "shell" would look great, (and I would like one) it's just one more thing to go wrong. Nelson II caught fire once because fuel got behind the heat shield. I have thought about it, though.
yeah, you could make it out of cardboard and then for an example fibreglass it i and it should be fireproof. then you would be able to use it as a real battlebot.
thank you! there were two "nelson" models before this one, and i used those to see what i liked and what i didn't. nelson iii has the features i liked, while fixing the problems i didn't like.
