@kelvinpyaeko @danieln1 @DutchHPfan1992 She loses to Pironkova because Venus, as does Serena and Maria's game revolve around receiving pace. When players hit with top spin and especially slice/drop shots, it takes them out of their comfort zone and force them to create pace/angle. They can create pace but on a court like grass/clay that absorbs pace and sends balls awkwardly, it throws them off. This is why Serena only has 1 French Open and Venus/Sharapova hasn't won it.

After hearing about Venus's condition, matches like this make more sense. Just look at how hard and fast Venus is breathing at around 3:30. Such a laboured effort from Venus.

venus lost the next match because of this match.. she kept hitting in the middle of the court making it the rallies harder for her.... which made it harder to beat a player like Pironkova who doesnt hit tooo much pace

@danieln1 i don't get why either. i mean groth has got such an offensive game with power shots from both sides. she could pass her but lose miserably to pironkova?
