Hello, I'm Kristin Volk with today's news update on this Monday, the 19 day of May 2008.

Senator Ted Kennedy remains hospitalized while undergoing more tests today. The 76-year-old Massachusetts Senator suffered a seizure over the weekend. Doctors say the Democratic icon seems to be in no immediate danger, but a spokeswoman for the family says he's expected to stay in the hospital for another night. Kennedy's relatives say they're optimistic that he'll make a full recovery.

Today begins three days of national mourning in China to honor the tens of thousands of people killed by last week's massive earthquake. Traffic halted, work stopped, and people bowed their heads across the country to observe a few minutes of silence as cars, trucks and trains sounded their horns. The official death toll from the disaster has risen to at least 34 thousand. Another 245 thousand are hurt. The quake was the worst tremor to strike China in three decades.

Senator Barack Obama says he believes he'll win a majority of the Democratic delegates after votes are counted tomorrow. That's when Kentucky and Oregon are holding their primaries. The Democratic presidential candidate made the comment this morning on Good Morning America. Obama is favored in Oregon while his rival, Senator Hillary Clinton is expected to win Kentucky.

Meanwhile, former presidential candidate Mike Huckabee says he's interested in being Senator John McCain's running mate. Yesterday, the former Arkansas governor said there's no one he'd rather be on a ticket with than McCain. Huckabee dropped out of the presidential race in early March after the Arizona senator clinched the Republican nomination.
