CNN Tannerite Video of MN Dump Truck Explosion

I noticed this was not on youtube yet. I put this up for discussion. The man was arrested and "charged" with 3 felonies for doing nothing illegal. Non-commercial use of explosives on private property is not illegal. Anyone know more of the charges? Interesting enough however, he was released fast with no bail. Odd if they are serious charges!

The reason he was prosecuted is because he was already a convicted felon. He was not allowed to possess a firearm or binary explosives. If you google "Brian Childs Tannerite" you'll find the actual police complaint in PDF. The last paragraph on the 2nd page clearly states his previous conviction. Plenty of other people have done the same thing without persecution. This is CNN's fault for reporting an incomplete story.

The tannerite itself isn't illegal, the fact that he was on probation and not allowed to own weapons or explosives was what caused his problems. And on an unrelated note, I want his job if he can afford a .50 cal, 100 lbs of tannerite, and to blow up a truck.

According to the ATF, binary explosives are legal if you have the land to set them off. Read and research before commenting.
