The group formed in San Francisco in 1964 with Sal Valentino on lead vocals, and they debuted with this recording, "Laugh, Laugh", written by the lead guitarist, Ron Elliot, and produced by Sylvester Stewart (later known as Sly Stone). The song peaked at #15 during January of 1965.
