"Stimulating Government"
House Chamber Remarks, Washington D.C.
November 19, 2009

M. Speaker:

The unfolding scandal of phony or inflated job claims from the so-called stimulus bill should shock the conscience of the nation and permanently stain the reputation of the 111th Congress and this president.

But it gets even worse if we take them at their word.

As of this morning, the administration claims that in my 4th Congressional District of California, the brain trust at the Treasury Department has spent $182 million to save or create all of 168 jobs. Thats $1.1 million per job!

They claim to have saved or created 110,000 jobs in California. 75,000 of those jobs occur in a single zip code, 95814.

What is 95814? Thats the zip code that encompasses the state capitol and the state bureaucracies. Stimulating the economy? All were doing is stimulating government at the expense of the economy.

  • If only more were of this mindset! Tom is a brilliant man who speaks much truth. Sadly, I can probably count on one hand the other Congressmen/women who are of his caliber.

  • I agree! He should run for president one day. I will vote for him. Californians need to kick Boxer and all other democRATs out of the congress and state houses, otherwise there is no hope for this country and the worst days are yet to come!

  • @yamagoof Tom Tancredo, Ron Paul...damn no one else off the top of my head who is consistently against big gov't and for Ending The Private Banking Cartel that runs the U.S. aka the private Federal Reserve.

  • @moderndesignworks Carly Fiorina is running against Boxer. If you're pro-smaller Government, I'd recommend not only not supporting Democrats but also not supporting those RINO's who are pro-Big Gov't. I personally didn't vote for Ron Paul in 2008 because of the marginalization campaign against him. Then, I did some research into Ron Paul, Rand Paul (running for KY Senate) and the Liberty Candidates (predominantly under Republican party). Would recommend taking a look at them and End the Fed
