Teach, Making a Difference

Little did I know that one day, I will become a pre-school teacher, making a difference in a child's life and imparting knowledge besides nurturing young learner. As a child, I would always imitate what my kindergarten teacher does upon reaching back home. Those were the days where little communication and less contact time spent between a teacher and child as in the early 80s, teacher and child ration was high; 1 teacher : 30 children. Nevertheless, I can still remember my kindergarten teacher's name as she's the first teacher to teach me how to sing, draw, write ad dance. Thank you Ms Ng, I was inspired to be a teacher!

The message that I want to send through this little video of mine is that, teaching is the best profession and we get to touch lives and make a difference in each child. Bringing out the best in each and every child and understand their learning journey giving the best guidance and care will make the child be a better person when he or she grows up. As an early childhood educator, one must understand the basic principles and philosophy of the centre their working with and work alongside with their very own philosophy and goals/objectives. The normal routine as can be seen via the video is more than what it takes as teachers also need to do planning, reflections and actions. Meeting the needs of children, parents ad staff is never an easy task but with perseverance and constant motivation and alongside with personal experiences and knowledge, it helps to counterpart those negative vibes, difficulties and certain issues faced. Their intrinsic rewards are the best gift ever from a child that is under my care.
