This version of "Ugly Beauty", a Thelonious Monk composition, is from a 1988 JMT recording called "Monk In Motian", featuring Paul Motian (drums), Joe Lovano (tenor saxophone) and Bill Frisell (guitar). The album features ten Monk compositions, recreated as sound paintings.
