In this video, Haiqiong plays an excerpt from the Shaanxi school of Chinese music. In Shaanxi, the Chinese province where the Terra Cotta Soldiers were found, there is a specific folk style that features the mournful Mi Hu music. The style of plucking produces a sorrowful sound, as Haiqiong explains after the song excerpt.

Deng Haiqiong is the instructor of the Chinese Ensemble at Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida and a world renowned zheng player.
