Photo Finds: Farewell tours of Penguin Encounter and Jaws - SeaWorld, Universal Studios 12-19-2011

The SeaWorld Orlando penguin exhibit will be replaced by a ride in the coming months and years, so we swung by to document the building and exhibit as it exists now (the puffin exhibit is already closed). We did the same for Jaws at Universal, which is rumored to be replaced by an expansion to Harry Potter. In both parks, we also stopped to document "new to us" items as we came across them.

Nice pics and vid! I can't believe Jaws is closing...there are very few vintage rides left at Universal..such a shame. E.T. is basically the only ride that's still there since I first went in 1995.

Penguin encounter is closing? Whew.... I recently went to seaworld and got a last look at penguin encounter (including the puffins). When will the whole exhibit close?

Jaws is too old now! Seus landing needs a paint job too,the colours are so faded now from when it first opened.

HARRY POTTER IS NOT UNIVERSAL! JAWS, IS UNIVERSAL.

they have no respect for classic rides that are based off old movies anymore.

they are getting little ridiculous with the stupid Harry Potter crap, Just because Jaws is old doesn't mean you should get rid of it. Universal is gonna upset and piss off the Jaws fans, the day it happens. why they dont care about the past anymore, nor care if there pissing people off, they just wanna make money. im my opinion that's disrespectful to the fans of Jaws.

I was told by a very reliable source, that where JAWS is now is where the Harry Potter expansion will be, DEFINITELY. They are going to put Gringott's Bank there and an extended version of Hogsmeade. The Hogwarts Castle MIGHT be put there, but those plans are subject to change.
