Mark Driscoll teaching pastors that some sins, like adultery, are grounds to fire a pastor immediately. Other sins are minor infractions and warrant a rebuke, but not disqualification or firing.
The recent firing and trials of two beloved senior pastors were not based upon serious sins. In fact, it is debatable that they were fired for any sin at all. The charges were trivial and silly, yet the men were fired quickly and without notice or warning.. http://forums.thestranger.com/showthread.php?t=12628
This violated the Biblical standards that Mark Driscoll himself lays out in this address to pastors that he recently taught. You do not fire pastors for the minor infractions that these men allegedly incurred. Violating unwritten and presumed "elder protocol" and distrusting senior leadership are vague and clearly, if valid, do not rise to the level of the cruel and harsh treatment that the two elders suffered.
The firing and the trials were a sham and the verdict ought to be overturned. The men should be exonerated and restitution be made.
