As most BimmerFile readers likely know 'Connected Drive' refers to BMW's portfolio of comfort, infotainment and safety features within many new BMW's. Recently the company showed off a few new features that are expected on models in the coming years:
- Proactive driving assistant, which anticipates future driving situations and make optimum use of the car's kinetic energy
- Camera-based pedestrian protection
- Active hazard breaking
- Emergency stop assistant
- Remote controlled parking
- Active PDC
- Lateral Collision Avoidance.
Imagine you "selfpark" your car in the tight parking space so the doors couldn't be open and then battery dies :)

They even let you read text messages, facebook and twitter via the car and then they fit the car with a pedestrian detecting and braking system! Good job BMW. Bavarian Motor What?!

Rant warning!!
This is all just going the wrong way. So much technology to do everything in a car but focus on the road ahead and drive- isn't that what BMWs were all about, starting with the 2002 back in the 80s? By some reports, the new N20 4-cylinder will come with a sound system to artificially feed a V6 engine sound when you hit the pedal.
It's so much easier to fit bells and whistles onto a car than to just deliver the pure driving experience as is.
