The shelter is in crisis and desperately needs relief workers who are trained and proven
Elizabeth worked at the shelter for a year with nothing but good reviews from coworkers and bosses
Janus is refusing to hire her based on the word of one supervisor who has had conflict with Elizabeth
Janus has hired workers that they knew had been fired from other programs. Janus has offered workers that they have fired the opportunity to apply to other Janus programs. Elizabeth resigned from her last job and is being told she is ineligible.
The shelter is supposed to have a democratic hiring process that involves the workers and guests. The workers are speaking but management is refusing to listen.
The position is an unprotected position. If during any shift Elizabeth's performance is sub-par, she can be taken off the call list. She is already trained and vaccinated. This is a very small risk for Janus.
