  • deathsheadkungfu. The only mistake was your post. I posted this for the people that train at Dave Hopkins Kung Fu San Soo to enjoy. I did not post this video for the keyboard kung fu masters that know absolutely nada to post their hateful remarks.

  • Why the hate? Visit the school & show Dave what he's doing wrong. This is why this art will never come together. Somebody always wants to piss and moan.

  • Great variety of techniques and variation. Notice these guys don't repeat the same moves over and over like other videos we've all seen. At least this video is not sped up or edited with 5 different sound effects. I would love to workout with these guys knowing that they are in control, unlike others who are uncontrollable and flail their arms around.

  • I like to watch Dave. He's tight and focused. Precise and clean.

  • What you learn and practice in the studio is what you'll do on the street. If you're sloppy with your blocks and counters in practice, that's what you'll do in a real situation. And that'll get you hurt. And power doesn't come from big windmills, power comes from from your core and your body rotation. Big windmills leave you wide open and take more time. Economy of motion is key.

  • "In a real fight you don't block"?? Are you serious? Why bother training San Soo or any other martial art that teaches blocking?

  • @ piaten

if they went full speed and full power they would injure their partner, you want to go at a slower pace to get the feel of the motion, then you can go faster the more you practice..slow is smooth , smooth is fast..

  • All in all I kinda like this stuff, though I have some "questions". The sideways movement and turning of the body looks very good, but why the slomo?! When you approach realistic speed against aggressive and skilled attackers, that's when you "test your metal"! When doing it only slow with compliant partner, it's very easy to adapt bad habits which might get you killed..

  • in a real fight you don't block so no need to argue over whether big windmills or little windmills are better for blocking, big windmills give your strikes more power than little windmills and that is all that matters

  • And lest anyone thinks "it doesn't work" I can tell you from personal experience that on those few occasions when your opponents control slips during a workout? It hurts like a sonofabitch.

  • Big windmills will leave your guard down, may only result in getting your clock cleaned and aren't necessary- power comes from torso rotation. I think the difference comes from whether one learned under Jimmy Woo or Frank Wolsley. Master Bill Hulsey from Bellflower uses wide blocks and wind-ups, whereas other schools keep tighter. But, like any martial art, if you're well practiced you'll still fare well. I could criticize Master Hulsey for his wide looping blocks, but he'd still kick my ass.

  • As for Deathhead you got some good stuff but your attitude and lack of respect make you nothing more but a JOKE.
