The weather is finally beginning to be more "spring-like" so I again headed out to the former Great Northern mainline. This is the Spokane to Wenatchee/Seattle leg of the BNSF northern "transcon". This line is used by the Amtrak Empire Builder and passes through the Cascade Tunnel.

Today's location is just east of Espanola, the next siding west from Lyons. As I arrived at where I would hike in, an eastbound empty coal train was fast approaching. I barely had time to throw down my tripod and get the shot. The bridge crosses over the road as well as the Eastern Washington Gateway's line which passes under the second span. My son Anthony tagged along. You can see his point of view on his channel wesolintKID.
