  • The [ou] diphthong differentiates Canadians from Americans, yeah, well for some Canadians it does, but some sound like Americans, most Canadians live 100 miles from the USA. Canada has accents that are different between Canadians, and accepts many people from the UK, or many other nations, based upon skills. So no Canadian really is typical Canadian; some sound just like Americans, some don't. Some sound like Scots, some sound like Aussies. You, American!

    Your entry here is appreciated.

  • @awreslr2 lol very well said! actually so true haha cuz i live like 2 hours away from the border so we're really close to the US. don't really hear too much of a difference between my accent and a lot of northern US state accents. thanks a lot for the comment!

  • I'm actually from Tillsonburg, which is about a 40 minutes drive from London. Lol.

Anyway, I talk pretty much like you. I do notice that you really have the Canadian "accent" when you say Canadian (like Caneedian) and there (like theere). But you pretty much sound like me and everyone I know.

I tend to say eh a lot like: 1) "it's cold out, eh?" or 2) "the Smiths broke up, eh!" or the one i use most often, 3) "I know, eh!"

    1) Eh = "don't you think?

    2) Eh = "did you know?"

    3) Eh = "isn't that

  • @sheltiemum hahaha thats jokes never really noticed that till u pointed it out. lol i actually don't say eh too much. the only time i can really think of when i would apply it is like you said, when saying "i know eh". other than that I probably say the word eh like once a day lol

  • Canadian! You sounded so Canadian when you said "Canadian" :)

  • @golazybusted lmaoooo thats hilarious! i don't hear it at all. just sayin it as anyone here would say it lol

but not quite TOTALLY canadain if you know what i mean

  • Wow your accent is really Canadian! Way more noticeable than mine, and I'm just a couple hours south of you in Windsor.

  • I'm from BC, Canada, but I've noticed in Ontario you guys drop the "ar" as in like "Car" and instead make it "Curr" BC people tend to round it more.

  • You sound pretty normal to me, although we have the same accents :)
