  • @Gmancrap From what I read, the Beaulieu is the top super 8mm motion picture camera (or it's very damn close). I just need to find one that reasonably priced and functions well (which I'm not %100 where to look for that). The more I think of it, the Beaulieu has the best options unless someone knows another type that is close (Canon or Nizo?). My only other obstacle is networking because people I know whose small movies I worked on take weeks to get back to me.

  • I would go with any Beaulieu camera.

  • @Gmancrap The only brainstorming I've been doing with the intent to shoot it on Super8 film is something that revolves around one character who has to be either very mentally disturbed or represent some classic monster (ie: a vampire but NOT the sparkly kind). I've been searching ebay and only feel confident about either newer colour stock or stick with B&W reversal and likely will look for a better camera as well. Any suggestions?

  • @Gmancrap What kinds of super 8 cameras?

  • 4 VHS cameras, 7 super8 cameras and one digital tape camera along with a vhs-c camera.

  • @Gmancrap What kinds of cameras you got? Unfortunately I live in the province of Ontario in Canada, so I am a great distance from somewhere like SXSW. However we can always bounce off ideas via internet.

  • Hey same man, this summer I'm making super8 film about this kid I know and his girlfriend. You know, if you're interested maybe we could brain storm some ideas for a film. I have tons of super8 film and two cameras myself.

  • I would like to know where Garner got his Canon 1014XLS and for how much. Some cameras are a pain in the ass to get hold of. Any idea if he got Pro8mm to upgrade it at all?

  • @Gmancrap Everyone has one of those now and then. As for support, I would like to make one or two films with Super 8mm. Even got a Super 8mm camera (30-40 years old) from a middle-aged guy a few weeks back who stated it was last used a 1 1/2 years ago and gave good results. I recently put some batteries in it, sounded like everything was working perfectly, just need to get some film now. I'm not even sure what an art school looks like: I took broadcasting so that might count or not.

  • Yeah, excuse my rant there. I had had a bad day.
