  • Is that a CONN 10M Danny Moss is playing?

  • I'll ask him! I think it might be a Conn.

  • Is that Pete King on alto?

  • Yes!

  • That is the BEST Maynard clip on YouTube. Thanks so much, it's made my week!

  • Thanks for your kind remarks. I will pass your comment on to Danny who features in the clip with Maynard.

  • That's a hell of a performance by Maynard and by his British band from the early 70's. It's great to see Peter King and Danny Moss soloing in this video. I love the sound of the band too. Just incredible! Best regards from Puerto Rico.

  • Nice solo from altoist Peter King also. . . .

I enjoyed Maynard's band many times at the MSG Club in Manchester, great days.

  • Mel Lewis band also played that night. Maynard write to me to tell me that the painting was hanging on his wall. What a class act!

  • (Cont'd) 1972 I had just finished a portrait of him and Igave it to him that night. Cannonball Adderley's quintet & the Thad Jones

  • This brings back so many memories. The 1st time I saw Maynard was in '72

  • From the arrangement, to the performance, to the camera direction and 'special effects' (..and - is that a young Randy Jones on drums??), this is KILLIN'!

This also sounds like the same band that recorded the studio version..which I'd love to find.

    Great stuff...

  • What can ya' say, this band smoked as well as MF. One of my favorite tunes on that album. The whole album smokes. Always loved Maynard and the way he would intimidate the horn players that sucked on the dang things instead of playing from the ankles up. They know who they are, the ones that always criticize MF, just jealous folks. RIP MF, your music and energy live on!

  • he hit that high D better than on MF Horn 1....very nice!

  • Rest in peace, Danny.

  • That looks like an alto sax, not a tenor.

  • what in the world? this in neither the el dopa nor the maynard i was expecting. if i liked this kind of jam this would be good though.
